1st Birthday Party
Don't let the title fool you, (you didn't miss anything) Wilken is still just over 8 weeks old. The reason for the title is because we just attended to our first birthday party as "parents". Quite a different experience from what we're used to as being children ourselves (8 weeks ago). The cake (mint chocolate chip ice cream cake) was still our favorite part and we couldn't wait until it was served, but there were "peoples'"children running everywhere with excitement and we were in the midst of it all as one of the attending children's parents! Granted, Wil could have cared less about being there (Dad held Wilken in his arms while Wil was in and out of sleep the entire time), but it made us realize how close he is to running around with the other kids, even scarier, how close we are (or already have become) to being our parents. All those birthday parties we had and attended growing up seem like so long ago and yet here we are with a child of our own. It just doesn't seem real at times. We know, we know, everyone says it all the time, "time flies" and "they'll grow up before you know it." What can we do to slow things down?

Just visited your site and saw Wil sleeping in your arms at your first "birthday party". Wil looks very content! You are right, it will not be long, and he will be running all over the place....so enjoy these "quiet times"! while you can.
I would love to see all of you before leaving next Friday for SD, but it doesn't look like I will be able to make it. I will be very anxious to see all of you when I return (August) Enjoy him ~ MOM
