First Family Campout
We went on our first family campout. Elanor decided to attempt the experience as Jake was not yet crawling. We joined Aunt Traci, David and Grey (Uncle Ken had to work) for a huge family camping event with their Indian Guides camping group. It was a great time. The campground had swimming pools, a water slide, and a mini-golf course within walking distance of our campsite. The dads in the group prepared all of the meals (we didn't have to cook one thing!). The kids ran wild and got very dirty. Jake was either content sitting on a blanket playing (with a watchful eye over the red fire ants that kept creeping closer to him), or being held by his mommy. He was somewhat fussy (he could have been teething) which was unusual as he was outdoors the entire time which is usually his favorite place to be. Aunt Traci and daddy were able to hold him if they sneaked him away from Elanor and did not talk to clue him in to who had him.
Wilken started our the trip with a fever, but was fine by the next day and very willing to start the day with some of Grey's Fruity Pebbles. He had an awesome time playing with the big boys. We went on lots of walks (we heard a rattle snake on one walk), went swimming, played miniature golf, and Wilken got to go on a real big kid water slide with daddy.
At night, there were kegs of beer for the grown-ups and smores for the kids (and adults). There was even a live band one evening. We were able to hear the coyotes in the middle of the night.
Overall, it was a time. We decided we would attempt it again next year, when Jake is walking.
