Breckenridge; Finally!

In June, we embarked on our first airplane trip as a family of 4. We went to Breckenridge to vacation with Aunt Traci, Uncle Ken, David, Grey, Grandma V, and Great Grandma Katie. The Kaufmans have a gorgeous vacation home there with a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains. Overall, our flight was great. Wilken continues to be a fantastic traveler. He drew, colored, and slept during the flight. He was, unfortunately, a more subdued traveler as he had a fever due to the development of a nasty cold. Jake was a bit touch and go. He finally slept during the end of the flight. We had plenty of time to get to know the flight attendants who were kind enough to let us bounce around in the rear of the plane for awhile. There are so many family activities to do in Breckenridge. We hiked around most days through the woods. Mommy carried a load during one of those hikes. Wilken was in heaven having his older cousins to play with. I don't think we saw him most of the visit as he was off in "big boy world." They had incredible patience. I don't think they once asked for a break from playing with their little cousins. Note David and Grey's interesting hairdos. David decided to be his own barber and cut his hair Dumb and Dumber style. I can't quite remember how Grey ended up with the same look, but I know Uncle Ken had something to do with it. Jake spent most of his time being held by mommy. He also spent some time being entertained by his big cousins and brother while playing with all sorts of "non-toy" items such as kitchen utensils. He practiced his crawling and got into a bit of baby mischief. He was a bit cranky during a lot of the visit. Wilken's nasty cold made the rounds with our family of 4. Wilken was first, then Ryan, then me, and finally Jake. With the altitude, stuffed noses, dry air, fevers, and coughing sleep was not easily attainable for anyone. This was despite our luxurious room with 2 queen incredibly comfy beds. The fun days made up for the fatigue and sick nights. Who needs a lot of fancy toys when you have a dog leash, sofa cushions, an empty laundry basket, and a big cousin with limitless energy to pull you around? We spent every evening on the deck, sitting around a fire pit while having wine and snacks.
Each family took turns preparing a big meal for the rest of the family. The Van Der Vorste's prepared a very fancy meal of tacos.
While Wilken, Jake and I headed to the Children's Museum one day, Ryan headed out with the Kaufmans for some white water rafting. They had a great ride, although they had a long detour due to one of their fellow tourists' rafts tipping over. 2 of the rafters were lost, and the entire group waited until they were located.

Ryan and Uncle Ken enjoying a beer after rafting. Not to be outdone by their daddies, the little guys enjoyed dipping dots another evening.
We had a fantastic trip and can't wait for our next visit out to Colorado!
