Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

Today, July 16 (almost 9 weeks old) is our biggest adventure of Wilken's short life thus far. We're going to the 5 1/2 game league-leading San Diego Padres game (designated "Beach Day" with fireworks following play). Not sure how everything will play out (how many outfits we'll have to change), but we're going about the day with a baseball theme as you can see in the photo above.
We arrived at the "tailgating parking lot" at around 4:30pm for the 7:05pm game. Can you tell this was a big event for us? Bubie, who is not the biggest baseball fan, was excited to tailgate with her grandson regardless of the festivities. She was with her grandson going to his first ballgame, and that was what mattered to her. After relaxing, eating, drinking, and throwing the football around, the "tailgating police" told us we had to put the football away so that we might not accidentally hit someone (BOO!).
Once the wind was taken out of our sail, we decided to pack up our toys and head into Petco Park to observe batting practice and the "Beach Day" goings on (all two booths of it!). With Wilken on Grandpa's shoulder (and a little spit up), we walked thru the pearly gates to watch the Padres take on the snakes of Arizona.
Despite the action packed game, roar of the crowd, the "wave," the side bets between Dad & Grandpa, and the loud gonging of "Hells Bells" as Trevor Hoffman emerged to pitch the top of the 9th, Wilken pretty much slept through all 9 innings (with two breaks to nurse in the packed stadium). Padres ended up winning 4 to 1 (YIPEE!). Looks like Wilken is a good luck charm as every game he has gone to, the Padres have won (that's a joke, he's 1 for 1). A totally successful event, and a win/win for everyone involved.

He's ready to go! (But does he have a leaky diaper? Might want to check before you head down to Petco)
Its spit up, but thanks for asking. You'll see how it all works very soon, Keenan's! -Ryan
O.K. Wil, you're our good luck charm. Tell your mommy and daddy to buy you season tickets for the Padres - when you go to the game, we win!!
Congrats on a successful outing including a win for the Padres, breastfeeding in public without flashing anybody (I assume), and lots of sleep. I'll admit I was a little nervous for you. Aden is not a fan of fireworks as he cried on the 4th of July even though he was tucked safely in his crib during our neighborhood festivities. Eventually he did make his way to my bed for some comfort from mommy.
My goodness...isn't this fun to be able to comment on every event in Wilken's life!
I'm glad Armen & I were able to take a quick trip to San Marcos to see Wilken before I leave for Grandma Katie's. I will give her a detailed report on how special and sweet her great grandson is...and what luck he brings to the Padres!
