Summer Vacation: Part One (Michigan)
We have been traveling the past two weeks, and Wilken has had numerous experiences on airplanes and in airports. The airport has turned out to be quite the playground for our young Wil. It is spacious with lots of chairs to climb on. There are plenty of windows to look through to see all kinds of vehicles and airplanes to point at and label. There are adults to wave at and kids to grab hold of. He made quite a few friends during our travels, which included a man behind us one on plane who patiently allowed Wilken to stroke his hairy knee unbeknownst to his mother who thought he was resting. The greatest discovery for the little fellow was the moving sidewalks.
Our first stop on our trip was Pilgrim, Michigan. This beautiful area, where rustic cottages are scattered about a forrest within walking distance to both Crystal Lake (named for the clarity of the water) and Lake Michigan, is where Elanor's dad's family has been vacationing since his mother was a little girl. Despite the tiny cottage with partitioned rooms, we had an incrediblee trip there with Elanor's parents and her dad's family. Wilken especially fell in love with his 6.5 year-old twin cousins returned his affection equally. With the soft sand, twin cousins, and a lake which was a bit too intimidating to venture into solo, the setting was the perfect babysitter for our little guy who never tired of playing in the sand. He loved to go swimming in the 77 degree pristine lake with his parents. Wilken's daddy was able to build several sandcastles. The cousins and Wilken's mommy kept Babyzilla at bay until structure was completed, and he could topple it.
Bubie and Grandpa spent a lot time watching Wilken on the beach so that his parents could swim, and even entertained him so they could have a dinner out alone. There was a variety of activities provided at Crystal Lake, including a dance night for the toddlers. Here is a video of Wilken who found a bat and imitated Bam Bam for a short time. He was disarmed of his weapon (you can imagine the tantrum which followed) prior to the actual dancing.

Yes! The boy loves baseball! And what a well-rounded kid - not only can he play sports, but can cut a rug as well. We're glad you're back in town, Wil. 12 days is way too long to be away!
Wil is so BIG and walking with ease. Can't wait for more vacation footage.
And they didn't let you take the bat to the castle?! Imagine how much fun THAT would have been!
Wow, a night out on the town without having to be the entertainment for a wee one. Who thought just a few short years ago that would become such a treat today.
and part II....?
