Visit from Grandma V

Okay. So my mom and dad are behind on the blogging...Again! We'll spend the next few days catching up. The week before last, (prior to Thanksgiving) Grandma V came down to San Marcos from Palm Desert to visit. We had a great time lounging around the house, playing with toys, holiday shopping (I slept most of the time), having dinner at Aunt Traci's, and having a birthday (Daddy's) breakfast at Daddy's favorite restaurant.
When it was time to calm down, Grandma V would hold me and let me relax a little. Can't wait to see her again for the Holidays. This Christmas/Hanukah (my first of each), I'm lucky enough to have both my Grandma V and my Bubie & Grandpa with me along with my Aunt Traci, Uncle Ken, and my two cousins; David & Grey.

Let the festivities begin! Coming next...postings of Thanksgiving and a new milestone!

I'm Still Standing...ooh, ooh, ooh.

The time has come where Wilken has not only discovered his feet to wiggle or toes to suck on, but the fact that he has legs which posses muscles that allow him to STAND! That's right, with the help of Mommy or Daddy, Wilken is standing.
We know parents always say how time flies and "they grow up before you know it" but the fact that we're holding our [now 6 month old] son's hands while he straightens his legs and stands is quite amazing after feeling like we were just in the hospital looking for his first merconium diaper.

Been Doing What I'm Doing For Two Quarters Of A Year!

November 15th, 2005. How sweet it is to be 0.5 years old today! I'm not certain what the future brings or when it brings it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that 6 months is a turning point for me. I've got the breast feeding thing down, like all the vegetables and fruits I've been spoon-fed, can roll over like a log down a hill, and even slept for 5 1/2 hours last night. I'm starting to stand (with my parent's assistance of course) and see sitting up and crawling just weeks away. Look out for my fastball Dad!
I've learned a lot in the 1/2 year I've been living in this world and been soaking stuff up like a sponge. I can't wait to figure out the speech thing so I can regurgitate "my version." The hardest part so far has been typing on this keypad!

Cheers!

Ready To Party!

I got all dressed up to go to my friend's 1 year old birthday party on Saturday up in Temecula. It was a great "jungle themed" party hosted by one of the mothers in my playgroup. Little did I know that someone there had a little cold and/or fever which I ended up catching this week. My mom has been a little on the anxious side while my dad is proud to know that I'm building my immune system and getting "tough". If only my Grandpa V were alive, I'm sure I'd hear all about "the way it was done when he was a kid."

While I was at the party, I became hungry. Might I also mention that I've been a touch on the constipated side lately? So, when in a roomful of new mothers with a constipated baby in the the midst, there was only one outcome in sight: PRUNES! I was due to try a new food and although my mommy and I were thinking pears, the entire party was thinking PRUNES!
They weren't bad...(the ones that made it in my mouth that is)

Anyway, I'm now here in San Marcos building my immune system with a drippy nose and a hard time sleeping on my back while everyone seems to be catering to my every need, so I'm not complaining. I'm sure my parents will update you on my status with another blog shortly. Oh...here they come now, gotta go!

Belated Posting of 2nd Trip to Bakersfield

My mom is a procrastinator. Oh. I didn't realize that this was common knowledge. She tried to pull me into her little "put it off until tomorrow" world once. She said I was going to be a little procrastinator like her because I put off turning in utero until I was too big to turn, hence the breech C-section delivery. I couldn't turn because of her uterus for Pete's sake. She also tried to say that I was going to be a laid back little guy because I wasn't as active in utero. I had NO room woman...what with the shape of your housing and with all that you ate to fatten me up, what was I supposed to do other than stretch my little cramped neck every so often. I needed some more room, bundle of energy that I am. What my dad and I (and everyone else on the planet who really knows her) realize is that tomorrow never comes. Well it does eventually but not for a good amount of time..way more time than my daddy would like.

The point? We went to Bakersfield two whole weeks ago and she has not posted one picture of our adventures or my very cute face. And because she is so late, there are other blogs to post. So she is going to skimp on some of the descriptions of our fantastic trip to Bakersfield to visit not only Bubie and Grandpa, but also Aunt Marcie and Uncle Nate.

My mom and I went to Bakersfield on our own, while daddy went to Vegas for work. It was a blast. First of all, I was wonderful in the car both ways if I do say so myself. On the way home I slept the entire way! On the way there, we drove with my friend Megan and her mommy and went to Megan's second birthday party over the weekend. Here is a picture of me with my Bubie in a Princess hat of all things. Please do not use this to blackmail me in highschool.

Last time I came to Bakersfield, I had some adjustment problems. Not this time. I was all smiles and ready to play upon arriving to Bubie and Grandpa's house. My Grandpa said he was preparing himself to be rejected by me when I first saw him. Yeah right! I showed him by giving him a huge smile and trying to pull out a few of his whiskers. I even tried to borrow his glasses. Here we are in the morning. I am a bit sleepy- eyed still.

I got to see my Aunt Marcie and my Uncle Nate too this trip! I loved my Aunt's voice and turned my head whenever I heard her talking.

My Uncle Nate is really funny. This is just a hint of the fun we will have in years to come. Not only did my Bubie put me to sleep almost every nap (and at bedtime) with the magical sleep dance, but she also helped my mommy feed me. I tried sweet potatoes for the very first time. It was a lot less messy with Bubie holding my arms. I loved my new food. So did Uncle Nate and Aunt Marcie's dog Willie, who hovered around waiting for leftovers.
It was a great trip, although I couldn't wait to get home to see my daddy!

My New Friend Rory

On Tuesday, November 1st, our friends Becky and Sean had a new baby girl named Rory Marie. She was beautiful upon delivery weighing 6 lbs. 9 oz., 19 1/2 inches long, with a full head of hair.
Upon hearing the news of Rory's arrival into Wil's world, he could not contain his excitement. Prom night 2022 look out!
