October Trip to Bakersfield

Seconds anyone? A second celebration for Jake was held in Bakersfield on his actual birthday. His second cupcake was received just as enthusiastically as the first. With all of the teething, how do the sweets always manage to make it down so easily? We made a trip to Bubie and Grandpa's to go our friend's, the Bakers, annual Halloween party which was an absolute blast.

Our family dressed around Wilken in a firefighters theme. Daddy and Wilken spent a week putting together Ryan's firetruck costume. Wilken and Jake looked so cute as the fireman and Dalmatian. Mom, the ladder, could have tried a bit harder, but at least she participated. Right? Ryan took away the prize of the night for best costume and our whole crew won for best family costume. Thanks for the Dewar's chews Bakers!

Here is a shot of mommy with Jake, Becky with Greyson, Jennifer with Gracie, and Julie with Ty.

Wilken, in a hand-me-down outfit from our neighbor, was the inspiration for our theme.

We had a great visit with Bubie and Grandpa. Here is Jake with the "dancing Bubie." All of the grandbabies can't resist falling asleep while being danced in her arms.

Jake's 1st Shindig

Jake is 1! He is working on a mouth full of teeth at the moment, which has really affected his eating. He has slimmed down with all of his activity. He is now in the 30th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. He is over 20 pounds though, so he is face forward in the carseat. Yippee! No more complaining. We had a small little party with a few friends and their families. Jake took his first ride on the roller coaster with his big brother.

A causal fare of hotdogs, chicken, and burgers was served. The kids all played beautifully together.

Jake absolutely loved his very first cupcake. He appeared to know just what to do with it.

Now a big 1 year-old, Jake is able to ride shotgun with his big bro in the hand-down-jeep from our neighbors.
Jake is no longer completely deferential to his brother Wilken. He asserts himself every so often to let Wilken know just who he is messing with.

It is hard to believe a whole year has passed since our youngest little buddy joined our family.

Fall Days

We had a fun visit to the local pumpkin patch this year. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 kids walked away with a slight stomach bug. Happy kids, but very messy pants/diapers. We may have use a double dose of the hand sanitizer next year.

Jake attempted to throw all of the pumpkins as they understandably looked like balls or "ba."

How cute are these two?

Jake, like his brother, is always busy at his "baby work." This includes exploring, playing, and getting into a ton of mischief. Wilken now calls his brother the "mischief maker."

Daddy and Jake took a snooze following a depressing loss one day.

We learned that Jake gets hives after use of 2 different organic lotions.

Wilken enjoyed his second round of a multi-sport sports camp, this time with his buddy Rory.
