Happy 11 months....er..and 10 months!
Did we really miss the 10 month posting? We would say "unbelievable," but given our record, it is very believable. Where to start... So much has happened in the last 2 months. Our little guy Wilken, once a school yard bully who had no qualms about stealing another child's milk money, has slimmed down into quite the lean, mean, crawling machine. He zips around the house from the moment he wakes up and springs onto all fours ready for action, until he crashes out of exhaustion eventually for naps and bedtime. He continues to develop his cruising abilities and use of his walking push toys with pleasure, but does not seem to be overly motivated to walk as he can get exactly where he needs to go in a flash by crawling.
What are his favorite ways to pass the time these days? Well there is of course chasing after the cats to pull and eat their tails, quietly stealing away into the bathroom to unroll the toilet paper, use his lighting speed to yank glasses off of any poor sucker's face who happens to get too close, or attempting to sneak behind his mommy to get into the refrigerator/freezer to pull out only breakable glass containers. Yes, we know we should rearrange the fridge so he has some baby friendly items at his reach, but really, who has the time (especially when it can be done 'tomorrow')? He loves going to new houses, toys or no toys, to explore new environments. He continues to enjoy emptying all of his toy baskets, pulling books off the the shelves multiple times per day, and taking clean/folded laundry out of the basket and throwing the clothes back and forth. He loves watching his daddy's expert juggling, of any objects, and even enjoys his mommy's feeble attempts at juggling. He also loves rolling balls back and forth, knocking down block towers, and of course, being thrown about high in the air. He likes to offer others, even strangers (i.e. he handed a server at a restaurant a piece of his French dip sandwich), food or any other kind of odds and ends he comes across. He waves, claps, and attempts to point. He loves to be outdoors or in the garage as they are really the most dangerous and unbabyproofed settings he comes across.
He says all kinds of fun things such as mama (finally!), dada, nana, ca, ga, etc. He has even appeared to say mama, dada, and kika (kitty cat), and ca (car) in context. However, he will not repeat these tremendous feats despite all kinds of bribery and creative persuasion. The debate over whether he has had his first word continues between his parents. He still has seperation anxiety when anyone leaves the room, especially his mommy.
"WHAT?!? Where is Mommy going?"Wilken has asked that we stop rambling on and on. He says he has lots of stories to regale to his many blog followers such as his adventures in two deserts (Palm Desert and Bakersfield) as well as some of the other fun adventures he has experienced these past two months (like swimming lessons!). Stay tuned. Happy happy 10 month and 11 month birthday!
